Identifying 'smart' IT Solutions

Integrating ‘smart’ IT into your day-to-day business activities is key.  By rationalising, simplifying and automating processes, your people can have everything they need to serve your customers when and where they need it leading to improved customer relationships, more sales, and increased profits

Ongoing Strategic IT Support

With over 3 decades’ experience in IT related business, I have a pragmatic, no-nonsense approach to business development from an IT capability perspective.

I aim to build relationships with my clients where I become a ‘trusted adviser’ for their ongoing IT needs.

Act Now

Information Technology keeps evolving at a staggering pace.  Fact – if you don’t keep up you’ll be left behind.  In a competitive world, we see giants challenged by start-ups and customer expectations ever-rising.  ‘Smart IT’ is often the key to surviving and flourishing in this environment and you can be sure if you’re not taking advantage of the latest innovations, your competitors will.

About Me

Originally brought up and educated in Dublin, Ireland, I came to the UK in the early 80s where I made my home and my family.  I’m sure you won’t want to read about my whole life history, however, a little bit about my journey thus far might help you understand where I came from and why I am now working as a freelance Business IT Consultant, advisor, and mentor.

My early career was shaped by the explosion of personal computers and affordable business computers at that time.  Having worked in systems sales I progressed to starting and growing my own successful computer support company which I sold in the late 90’s.  Looking for a way to use my experience and knowledge in a less commercial environment, I joined a midland’s county council education department in a systems management role.

Public service being what it is, the council proceeded to reorganise itself (3 times in 5 years) and left me in an entirely different role which was not for me.  I then took an opportunity to join one of the country’s largest private sector companies supporting the public sector.  Enjoyable as this was it was also fiercely commercial and I was uncomfortable taking advantage of what was effectively a monopoly provision to the cash-strapped public sector.  I moved back to the public sector working for the country’s second largest police force.  By now I had developed my skills as an ‘Applications Specialist’ and ‘Enterprise Architect’ which helped me become a strategist and to understand that I am most fulfilled when helping others.

So, after a couple of recent contract positions, I am finally doing what I should have done years ago!  That is offering my expertise and experience on a freelance basis to Business Owners, CEOs and Leaders to help them take advantage of today’s Information technology, focusing on the role that IT plays in supporting their business whether that’s customer records, the sales order process, back office or the company’s website.

Over the years, I have always taken advantage of CPD training which has varied from industry-specific skills such as Oracle and Microsoft certifications through to people skills such as NLP and sales training all of which combine to help me assess and communicate technical issues in a practical way.

I guess if you have read this far, you will see I place great emphasis on personal integrity and have an almost insatiable desire to help others using what I know – maybe I can help you?
